Both yoga and meditation have long been praised for promoting well-being and relaxation, and research supports their efficacy. The prestigious Mayo Clinic describes yoga as, “Yoga is a mind-body practice that combines physical poses, controlled breathing, and meditation or relaxation. Yoga may help reduce stress, lower blood pressure and lower your heart rate. And almost anyone can do it.” Yoga can seem intimidating at first especially if you see some of the experts in advanced poses. It does not have to be that way. Grab a mat or towel to get started. Lay on your back with your palms facing up and take some deep breaths. Try to clear your mind of any thoughts. You are already doing a yoga pose!
